As we approach the end of the calendar year, many parishioners consider ways to express gratitude for God’s blessings through charitable giving.
Supporting Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish before December 31 not only strengthens our mission but may also provide valuable tax benefits.
To qualify for a 2025 tax deduction, all charitable contributions must be made by December 31, 2025.
Online donations must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on December 31.
Checks must be dated and postmarked no later than December 31.
Cash gifts must be received in the parish office or offertory collection before year-end.
For tax purposes, the IRS requires proper documentation:
Keep your bank or credit card record, or parish contribution statement as proof of donation.
For single donations of $250 or more, the parish will issue a written acknowledgment.
You will receive a year-end summary statement from the parish in January for your records.
In addition to cash or online donations, you may wish to consider:
Gifts of Stock or Securities: Donating appreciated investments may allow you to avoid capital gains tax and claim a charitable deduction.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): Individuals age 70½ or older can donate directly from an IRA to the parish, satisfying part or all of the required minimum distribution (RMD).
Employer Matching Gifts: Many employers will match charitable contributions to registered nonprofits. Check with your HR department for details.
(Please consult your financial or tax advisor to determine what’s best for your situation.)
Giving deepens our trust in God.
When we give freely, we acknowledge that all we have is a gift from God. Scripture reminds us:
“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” – Matthew 6:21
Charity unites us to Christ’s mission.
Acts of giving are acts of love. They make us co-workers with Christ in sustaining His Church and reaching those in need. Through generosity, we imitate the self-giving love of the Cross.
Giving transforms our hearts.
True stewardship brings peace and joy. When we detach from material concerns, we open ourselves to gratitude and spiritual growth.
“God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
Giving builds the Body of Christ.
Each contribution strengthens the parish community — maintaining sacred spaces, supporting ministries, and ensuring the faith is handed on to future generations.
A legacy of stewardship.
Contributing to your parish and charitable works supports lasting improvements — from building maintenance to community outreach — investments that benefit future parishioners.
Shared responsibility and sustainability.
When everyone contributes, the financial burden is lightened for all. Consistent giving allows the parish to plan confidently and avoid sudden shortfalls.
