BEING WELCOMED INTO OUR CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN FAMILY
CATECHUMENATE / RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
This is a process of faith formation for an unbaptized person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and beyond. Adaptations of this rite allow for men and women who are baptized Christians or baptized Catholics who never celebrated Confirmation and/or Eucharist. The preparation for full initiation into our faith family involves a series of liturgical rites which are linked by formational gatherings that flow out of the Sunday Lectionary Readings and through which our Catholic doctrine and tradition emerge.
The Catechumenate is a gift the early Church passes on to us - to enrich our lives at it restores the spirit of the early Church. Truly it is us, the family of Immaculate Heart of Mary, who welcomes and forms disciples of Christ through our presence, our prayer, our witness and our support.
For more information about this initiatory process - to participate as a team member, catechist, sponsor or pray-er or as one desiring to be formed as a disciple, please contact Sr. Maureen Corcoran at @ (973) 694-3400.
